Thinking of buying an Assisted Electric Bike?

Get started with the very best E-Bike training in the UK!

Introducing the The E-Bike experience hosted by Bicycles & Tandems by Design.

Electric bikes are gaining immense popularity in the UK. E-Bikes are a hybrid form of transport, meaning part of the power comes from the rider and part from the motor. This applies up to 15mph, the current legal speed limit for electric assistance. The motor will not assist you once you are pedalling beyond that speed.

What is the E-Bike Experience?

The E-Bike experience is the chance to rent an E-Bike from us with full training and advice for as long as you want!

You can book our E-Bike Experience for a day, a week, or on a flexible monthly rolling subscription that you can cancel at any time and with each rental you will receive the bike of your choice (see options below), a lock, and a helmet.

The best bit? – If you decide to purchase any of our rental E-Bikes, the cost of your rental will be deducted from the purchase price. The E-Bike will retain its full warranty and includes 2 years of servicing.

Thanks to our rental partners, you can choose from 4 different models of E-Bike:

  • Tern Vektron (folding)
  • Riese & Muller Nevo Touring (49cm)
  • Ridgeback Electron S1 (50cm)
  • Velo de Ville SEB Pure (45cm)

Why choose an E-Bike?

E-Bikes are capable of doing just about everything a regular bike can do and more.

E-Bikes are also in a very privileged position in European Law (now applying in the UK); they are in the same legal position as non-powered bikes with no red tape normally associated with motor power.

There are several other benefits to an E-Bike:

If you have a recurrent injury or illness, E-Bikes may help you keep cycling through it rather than having to give up cycling completely.
E-Bikes fill the gap between journeys short enough for walking or non-powered cycling and longer trips where a train or car may be necessary.
You could get to and from work faster on an E-Bike and convert commuting time into leisure time.
They can be a viable replacement for a second car with all the environmental, financial, and other benefits that this entails.
E-Bike riders often say they feel safer in traffic than when riding a non-powered bike, as the extra acceleration and speed up hills mean the speed of other passing vehicles is less than it otherwise would be. The quick off-the-mark acceleration also means you can clear stationary traffic more quickly.
You can carry heavier loads more easily than with a regular bike.
You still get exercise; many studies have shown that E-Bike riders get plenty of beneficial aerobic exercise. The vast majority of E-Bikes have power level settings on the handlebar controls that let you dial down the power if you want more exercise or turn it up if in need of more assistance.  You can carry heavier loads more easily than with a regular bike.
  They’re fun!
