About Duratec

Duratec frames are made of a unique material: the Double Butted 7020T6 Aluminium, or Duralumin as it’s known, is a super lightweight and durable aluminium. Only manufactured in Europe and originally created for the aviation industry due to its strength and svelte weight, Duralumin is a perfect material for bicycle frames offering an amazing riding experience that is responsive, stiff, and comfortable. Duratec are the only manufacturers of bicycle frames using this material which sets their frames apart from standard aluminium bike manufacturers.

Every frame and bike are made to order and made by hand in their cutting-edge facility. Duratec offer a huge number of sizes and build options, all available with a short lead time and shipped to Bicycles by Design where they are built and checked or delivered straight to you complete with a comprehensive factory check.

The Duratec Rebel

Fast, fun and svelte gravel bike that can handle everything from dusty, broken roads to thick forest mud! Race, Road and Trail Ready!

The drop handle bar gravel bike, Rebel is based on Duratec’s successful cyclocross frame, constructed of 7020T6 aluminium alloy. This model is modified for single cranksets for that contemporary 1 by ride and aesthetic. To maintain the clean lines, the rear derailleur cable and brake Bowden cable housing are routed inside the frame. The Rebel frame is very rigid for a responsive ride, while at the same time comfortable due to the construction of the rear triangle, which is specifically designed to absorb bumps! Lightweight and large diameter tubing are used for the construction of the front triangle. Thanks to this design concept, the frame displays great torsional rigidity, which enables swift and seamless transmission, making the bike fast and stable on mixed terrain.
